Dainty jewellery – siding with sustainability every time!

Dainty jewellery – siding with sustainability every time! - Dainty London

Our unwavering commitment to sustainability and ethical practices may be just one (very important) thing that sets us apart, but we are exceptionally proud to be at the forefront of responsible luxury jewellery making in the UK. Caring for the planet is after all not just an environmental issue, it’s a shared responsibility that affects each and every one of us.

With rising climate challenges, dwindling natural resources and fragile ecosystems, the need for sustainable action has never been more urgent. Every individual, community and business has a part to play in protecting and preserving the planet as a result, and that’s what is always on our mind when designing, crafting and packaging our pieces.

Whether calling on our collections to fulfil the latest jewellery trends, using them to boost your confidence and wellbeing, or investing in the made-to-order jewellery piece that will forever be a part of your story, knowing it’s sustainable and earth-friendly will certainly help you rest a little easier. Read on to discover more about just how sustainable our brand is…

Responsible luxury

A growing movement in the world of jewellery, responsible luxury aims to balance high-end craftsmanship and aesthetic excellence with ethical and sustainable practices. And it’s something we’ve been passionate about promoting from the very beginning!

As an industry, the jewellery world is traditionally known for its excess, which is a problem in our eyes. Luxury doesn’t have to mean compromising on the responsibilities we all have to the planet and its people. We are proof that beautiful pieces can be created and worn while embracing responsible, thoughtful and meaningful values that don’t just last one season, but are timelessly enduring.

Ethical materials

In jewellery making and design, sustainability always begins with sourcing. There are a number of ethical issues blighting the gemstone industry in particular, which makes it especially important that we do our bit to ensure transparency in the supply chain, support fair labour practices and invest in communities.

Here the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) explains why the need for guilt-free gems still remains so pressing:

“The mining and production of coloured gemstones takes place in 47 countries (Boehm, 2014). Industry observers have noted that this sprawling and largely unregulated industry presents issues that are similar to other small-scale extractive industries: forced and child labour, other types of criminal activity, environmental damage, and health and safety concerns (Valerio, 2010; Cartier, 2010; Connell, 2014).”

Dainty pieces are always crafted using ethically mined, recycled or synthetically cultivated materials that are fully traceable, kind to the planet and fair for all who call it home.

Eco packaging

Our mission to act, design and make with responsibility isn’t over once the piece has been created. We want to continue to minimise environmental impact through the reduction of waste and other eco-friendly production methods, and this extends to the way we package our products. That’s why we only use environmentally friendly and recyclable materials in our packaging.

Sustainable values

We understand more than most that today’s consumers are seeking jewellery that tells a deeper story. Our creations represent a commitment to craftsmanship, care and consciousness all beautifully packaged in a timelessly elegant piece that you can wear again and again and again – whatever the trends.
