From Cornwall with love

The story of Dainty jewellery began long before the creation of the brand. Its roots can be traced all the way back to founder Jade’s childhood as this interview with Essex Life details:

“My jewellery is inspired by my childhood which was spent by the seaside. I grew up in Bude, Cornwall and now live in Essex after marrying a local boy. My father was a fisherman, who would often return from days away at sea with full lobster pots and fishing nets. I would imagine them brimming with shipwrecked treasure. Growing up, I recognised there was a gap in the market for jewellery that tells a story and evokes that sense of wonder and imagination we all had as children.”

These early influences have been a mainstay, with the Coastal Collection all about bringing treasures from the depths of the ocean into your life and style.

Breathing life into unique tales

Storytelling is a powerful thing, and really comes into its own in the Coastal Collection. As well as emulating the textures of long lost treasures with beautiful, ethically sourced freshwater pearls, and techniques like granulation, every piece pays tribute to legendary and often long-forgotten tales.

This poignant mix of storytelling and craftsmanship paves the way for some pretty unique pieces, with the use of recycled and responsible materials adding more weight to the love we have as a brand for the coast and wider natural world.

From childhood to adulthood, each story is inspiring

The details found across all of the pieces in the Coastal Collection have their own stories to tell. Our seashell necklaces for example were dreamt up after a 7-year-old Jade found a tiny seashell buried in the sand while waiting for her father’s boat to return. She kept that little seashell for many years, and later used it to craft several stunning pieces using recycled silver and gold.

The resulting designs were more than just a way to capture the magic of this naturally formed marvel. They celebrated the wonder of the inner child and how it can still endure, even long into adulthood.

Another discovery, this time on a far-flung beach, made another bestseller in our Coastal Collection possible. Our starfish necklaces and studs are fan favourites, and available in sterling silver, solid gold and gold vermeil. The delicate details everyone falls in love with were actually cast from a real starfish Jade found on the shores of Sri Lanka.
